About Dr. Maughan D. Ramsay, DDS

Located at 2917 Crossing Ct STE C, Champaign, IL 61822, Dr. Maughan D. Ramsay, DDS operates as a dentist serving Champaign in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as dental clinic, emergency dental service, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In Champaign, popular practices book routine cleanings weeks ahead, so call early or ask to be put on a cancellation list; emergency and walk-in clinics are the exception. Across Illinois, a new-patient exam with X-rays and a cleaning typically runs from about $150 to $350 without insurance, and many offices publish new-patient specials on their websites. Check the listing for hours, whether the office takes your insurance or Medicaid, languages spoken, wheelchair access and parking, then confirm by phone: insurance networks and providers change more often than the listings do.

The business lists hours on 4 days of the week. The most common schedule is 7 am–5 pm. It is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (217) 359-2336. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is ramsaydental.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating stands at 3.4 out of 5 from 25 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.

Champaign is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. Traffic in Champaign peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. After fillings performed by Dr. Ramsay, a young teen in our family experienced persistent pain. We returned multiple times over several months seeking help, but the problem remained unresolved. We sought a second opinion, and two root canals were ultimately needed. We were disappointed that the issue was not identified, resolved, or referred to a specialist, especially given the impact that months of pain had on a young patient. Other than this, the office staff were always kind and professional

Excellent experience from start to finish. Stacey, my hygienist was kind, gentle, and made me feel completely at ease. Highly recommend.

Avoid at all costs. Unless you’re only getting a cleaning (which is done by the technicians), do not let this man touch your teeth. After my cleaning, I was told I should update two old fillings, so a week later, I got both of them done within 30 mins (they should take longer than that?). I was numbed up pretty well, but I could tell he was being pretty rough. I figured the pain I felt after would go away within a day. But what followed was one of the worst pains I’ve ever experienced on top of a constant pain/ache within my jaw all day and night, headaches, and trouble sleeping. I went back in, to which Ramsay took 10 SECONDS to look at my teeth, shave them down, and sent me on my way. The pain remained, so I went back, and he did the EXACT SAME THING. Didn’t ask me a single question about what kind of pain I was in or take any time to truly evaluate his mistakes. I am two weeks since my fillings and have been in constant pain ever since. It’s affecting my mental health. And I’m worried he has done permanent damage and that this is my new normal. I have an appointment with another dentist so they can fix his mistakes. Save yourself and do not go here. He has a reputation for takin

I would like to share my experience. I had an appointment today at 1:10pm. When i got there i was asked if i had new insurance, i said Yes ,Gave them the information, Then the older lady with the glasses with her hair pulled up dont know he name, but the comments she were making were very condescending. When she replied to me maybe i should find a closer denist because i shared with her i was on a break and how long will it be,then she tells me i wont work on you until the insurance is authorize, I asked her is that something new she said no.. i told her never done that her reply was aw you had Cigna before and we have the info in our books, she also stated i thought you still had Cigna..and then she proceeded to say what should i have done , I replied politely and said you could have asked me that over the phone..blank stare from her then..Then tells me that she can take me back and can you pay something now i told her just call me when you get the response back.. A waste of time, and she was nasty about it and now you think you want me to come back i have been using him for at least 17 plus years. And may tell people not to use your services. Bad Customer Service..🫀

I went to Dr. Ramsay's office for many years when I lived in Champaign, from ~2010-2017. I always appreciated how punctually and efficiently the office was run, and how easy it was to schedule an appointment. Often you don't fully appreciate a place until time passes and you've had different experiences. Dr. Ramsay did a great job on my fillings as none of them have needed to be redone or replaced with crowns in the past ~10 years. (I can't say the same for the dentist I saw in college -- I ended up needing almost all of his fillings redone just a few years later.) Dr. Ramsay's office also never tried to sell me expensive services I didn't need, like crowns on teeth without issues like new cavities or decay (unlike some dentists I've seen since). I haven't been able to find a dental office where I live now that starts my appointment punctually and gets me in and out for routine cleanings and x-rays in an under an hour, like was always the case at Dr. Ramsay's office. The pricing was always fair and affordable, even with my low graduate student stipend and not-so-great dental insurance. Overall I highly recommend this office; I was sad to have to switch dentists when I moved
